Built differently

Your document is not the product.

PDFs often contain more than what is visible on the page: contracts, personal details, signatures, form values, metadata, attachments, hidden objects and searchable text. That is why PDF Atelier is designed around on-device processing rather than “upload now, delete later”.

When you use a local PDF Atelier tool, the actual document processing happens inside your browser. Your document does not need to be sent to our servers simply to perform the operation.

  • Processing stays local

    Opening, editing, organizing, converting and exporting supported PDFs happens on your device. Account, billing and entitlement services remain separate from document content.

  • Passwords stay private

    Passwords used to open or protect PDFs are handled for the operation only, and are never written to analytics or application logs. PDF protection is performed in the browser.

  • Redaction means removal

    A black rectangle is not secure redaction. The Redact tool removes the affected underlying content from the exported document rather than simply covering it visually.

  • Hidden data gets its own tools

    Removing common metadata and sanitizing a document are not the same job. Metadata, Redact and Sanitize stay separate so you can choose the appropriate level of document cleanup.

No vague promises

We tell you what a tool changes.

PDF is a complex format. Some operations preserve selectable text, links, forms, annotations and document structure. Others intentionally change or remove them.

PDF Atelier does not hide those differences behind a generic success message. Before an operation can cause an important loss or security consequence, the interface explains what will happen.

  • Crop is not Redact.

    Cropping changes what is visible. It is not a secure way to remove confidential information.

  • Remove Metadata is not Sanitize.

    Document properties are only one category of hidden data. Sanitize inspects and removes supported hidden-data categories.

  • A visual signature is not a cryptographic signature.

    Adding a handwritten signature to a page is different from certificate-based signing. PDF Atelier detects signed-document indicators and warns before changes that may invalidate a signature.

  • Extract Images is not PDF to JPG.

    One retrieves embedded image objects. The other renders complete PDF pages.

  • Add Text is not arbitrary text reflow.

    Adding new text does not mean every existing PDF text object behaves like a word processor document.

A trustworthy PDF tool should tell you what happens to your file — not just show a green checkmark.
