Add Signature to PDF
Add your signature to a PDF, directly in your browser
Two first-class ways to sign: place an existing signature image (a photo or scan of your handwritten signature, with the white background removed) or draw a new signature with a mouse, trackpad, stylus or finger.
- 1. Choose
- 2. Prepare
- 3. Process
- 4. Review & export
Add Signature to PDF runs locally in this browser tab. Known limits: Adds a visual signature. It does not create a certificate-based digital signature
You then place the signature on the page itself: drag it where it belongs, resize it, duplicate it across pages, add a caption or the date, and export. The PDF and the signature image are processed on your device and never uploaded.
This adds a visual signature: an image placed on the page. It is not a certificate-based digital signature and carries no cryptographic validity.

Questions about Add Signature to PDF
- How do I add my signature to a PDF?
- Open the PDF, create your signature by placing a signature image or drawing one, then click the page to position it. Drag to move it, use the corner handle to resize, then export the signed PDF.
- Is my document uploaded anywhere?
- No. The PDF and your signature image are processed in the browser on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
- Is this a digital signature with a certificate?
- No. This tool places a visual signature — an image on the page. A certificate-based digital signature binds a cryptographic identity to the file and requires a signing certificate or accredited signing service.
- Can I reuse the same signature later?
- Only if you opt in. When you enable it, the signature is stored locally in this browser and you can delete it at any time. By default nothing is kept.
- Can I sign on a phone or tablet?
- Yes. You can draw with your finger or a stylus and place the signature with a tap; the workspace is designed for small screens too.
- How do I make the signature permanent?
- Use Flatten PDF after placing it, so the signature becomes part of the page content.
- Can I sign a PDF that is already digitally signed?
- Adding content to a signed document invalidates the existing signature. PDF Atelier warns you when it detects signature indicators.
