The page should clearly distinguish rendering a whole page from extracting an original image embedded inside the PDF. Those operations can produce different dimensions and quality, so PDF Atelier should only promise page-to-JPG conversion here.

Questions about PDF to JPG

Does PDF to JPG create one image per page?
Yes. Each selected PDF page is rendered as its own JPG. If several pages are converted, PDF Atelier should offer individual downloads and a ZIP containing consistently numbered filenames.
What JPG quality or resolution should I choose?
For screen sharing, a moderate scale and quality is usually enough. For print or detailed diagrams, use a higher DPI or output scale. The interface should show estimated pixel dimensions and warn that very high-resolution output increases memory use and file size.
Will text still be selectable after converting a PDF to JPG?
No. A JPG is a raster image, so the page text becomes pixels. If you need selectable text, keep the document as PDF or use an OCR workflow designed to create a text layer.
Can I convert only one page or a page range?
Yes. Users should be able to choose one page, several non-consecutive pages or a range before rendering. This avoids generating images that will never be used.
Does JPG support transparency?
No. JPG does not have an alpha transparency channel. Areas that appear transparent in a PDF must be composited onto a background color, normally white. Use PDF to PNG when transparency or lossless image output matters.
Is PDF to JPG the same as extracting images from a PDF?
No. Page conversion renders the entire page exactly as it appears, including text and graphics. Image extraction tries to recover original embedded image objects. This landing page should only promise page rendering unless a separate extraction feature is implemented.
Are PDF pages uploaded for conversion?
In the local converter, PDF.js or an equivalent renderer processes the page on the device and the JPG is created locally. High-resolution conversion can be resource-intensive, particularly on phones, so the tool should scale safely rather than silently moving processing to a server.
