A PDF is a fixed-layout format: text is stored as positioned glyph runs, not as paragraphs. The editor is explicit about what that means. The line you rewrite keeps its position, baseline and size, the sampled page background covers the original characters, and a replacement that would be wider than the original line is scaled to stay inside the same space instead of pushing into neighbouring content.

Only the pages you actually change are rebuilt. Every other page is copied across with its text, links and annotations intact, so a one-word fix does not degrade a whole document. Because edited pages are rebuilt from their own pixels, the wording you replaced stops existing in the exported file — it is removed, not hidden behind a white box.

Questions about Edit PDF Text

Can I really change existing text in a PDF here?
Yes, for documents that carry a real text layer. Each page's text runs are read on your device and shown as editable lines: select one, retype it and export. Scanned pages have no text layer, so the editor says so instead of pretending — run OCR PDF first, or erase the area and place new text.
Does the rest of my document change?
No. Only pages that contain one of your edits are rebuilt. All other pages are copied through unchanged, keeping their selectable text, links, bookmarks and annotations.
Is the old text really gone?
Yes. An edited page is rebuilt from its own pixels, so the characters you replaced are no longer objects in the file: they cannot be selected, copied, searched or recovered with a parser. The trade-off is that an edited page's text is no longer selectable either.
Will the font match?
The editor reuses the detected size, style and ink colour of the original line and paints the replacement with the closest matching family. Embedded fonts are often subsets that contain only the glyphs originally used, so an exact reuse is not always possible — the preview shows exactly what will be exported.
Can I delete text or a whole area?
Yes. Clearing a line's text removes it, and the Erase area mode lets you drag over any part of the page — text, images or vector art — to remove it and fill the space with the sampled page background.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Reading the text layer, rendering pages, editing and exporting all happen in your browser. The document never leaves your device to run this tool.
